Soma is an analgesic drug for relieving pain of musculoskeletal origin. It is available as tablets for oral administration. It is produced by Medpointe Pharmaceuticals, a part of MedPointe Healthcare Inc. located in New Jersey.

Indications for Use

The drug is used to help in alleviating pain of musculoskeletal origin in adults. It is mainly indicated for pain of acute origin and not of chronic nature. The drug is used only for a limited period of time of around a few weeks and it is not advisable to use this drug for long periods of time as it the efficacy has not been properly established for extended use. A cause for this is that pain which is acute and of musculoskeletal origin does not last for a long duration once treatment has been initiated.

Dosage for Use

The tablets are available in two strengths starting from 250 mg and another one with strength of 350 mg. Both the tablets are white in color and have a mild but distinctive odor and are bitter to taste. The drug is best stored at a temperature of 25 degrees although it can be stored at room temperature which is between a range of fifteen degrees to thirty degrees.

The advised dosage of the drug is to consume tablets of strength 250 mg or 350 mg, depending on the intensity of pain, three times in the day and one before going to bed. The drug is used for a total duration not exceeding two or three weeks in which period usually the pain regresses.
